It’s hard to put into words how special my connection with Lair is. I often say we were like two freight trains destined to collide—nothing could have stopped us from meeting and falling in love in this life.

We talk all the time (seriously, a lot), and still, I never tire of our connection or how hard he makes me laugh. Monogamy, marriage, and long-term commitment often get a bad rap—and honestly, sometimes for good reason. Most of us, Lair and I included, didn’t grow up with models of healthy love. So we’ve chosen to create our own version of relationship—one rooted in presence, humor, repair, and realness—despite how cynical the world can be. Our conversations are our way of reminding others that this kind of love and friendship is possible. It’s not perfect, of course. We have our ups and downs. But we keep showing up, keep talking, and keep choosing this relationship as a daily practice.
